An Unforgettable Global Stand Against Factory Farming!

On April 24th, 2025, Sinergia Animal and the Stop Financing Factory Farming (S3F) campaign made history. Across 5 continents and 13 cities, we mobilized an extraordinary Global Day of Action, calling on the World Bank Group to stop financing factory farming and shift toward just, sustainable food systems.

From World Bank and IFC offices to universities and iconic landmarks, actions unfolded in Washington, D.C., New York, London, Bangkok, Bogotá, Medellín, Buenos Aires, Goma, Lagos, Rome, Mexico City, Quito, and São Paulo. Sinergia Animal led actions in 5 cities, and together we spotlighted the staggering $1.4 billion the World Bank Group invested in industrial livestock operations between 2023 and 2024.

The day mobilized people across the globe and demonstrated the power of collective action for animals. Here are some key highlights:

  • We delivered a public letter endorsed by over 250 organizations, academics, and leaders from 59 countries, including the legendary Dr. Jane Goodall and philosopher Peter Singer.

  • The Jane Goodall Institute amplified our message on social media, urging the World Bank to stop funding factory farms.

  • Ads across Washington, D.C. asked the bold question:
"World Bank: Is factory farming worth risking the next pandemic?"

  • Major platforms Green Central Banking, The Banker, and Devex Dish covered the release of our new report, Unsustainable Investment, which spotlights IFC’s climate failures.

  • A Civil Society Policy Forum panel titled “How Can IFC Support the Shift to Sustainable Food Systems?” ensured our demands were heard loud and clear.

Important Context: The International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group, often channels its funding through commercial banks as financial intermediaries, meaning that private banks can end up financing harmful industrial livestock projects with IFC support.
